In God of War Ragnarok, tracking down the four Seasonal Stags is one of the most fulfilling collection quests found within the realm of Vanaheim. This optional favor, titled A Stag for All Seasons, challenges players to venture across the lush expanse of the Crater region to return these mythical beasts to the World Tree. Completing the task not only deepens the lore surrounding Yggdrasil but also rewards players with valuable crafting materials and realm completion progress.
Unlocking the Favor at Sindri's House
Before you can begin searching for the stags, you must first initiate the quest by speaking with Ratatoskr at Sindri's House. The magical squirrel will explain that the four stags representing the seasons have strayed from the World Tree, leaving Yggdrasil vulnerable.
Ratatoskr will hand Kratos the Yggdrasil Feed, a key item required to tame and feed each stag upon finding them. Staying informed through daily gaming news often helps players uncover essential prerequisites like restoring water to the Vanaheim Crater before embarking on complex exploration quests.
Finding the Spring and Summer Stags
The Stag of Spring is hidden in the Wishing Well region, an underground cavern accessible from either the Jungle or the Plains. Once inside, navigate to the open clearing near the back of the cavern where the creature rests peacefully near the water's edge.
The Stag of Summer can be located in the Jungle area, specifically near the docks by the Vanir Shrine. To reach this stag, players must lower the gate and clear the path using their weapons, ensuring boat access across the river.
Locating the Autumn and Winter Stags
The Stag of Autumn resides in the Sinkholes region, resting right next to the Mystic Gateway near the entrance. After arriving at the gateway, walk toward the ledge where the stag gazes over the canyon and interact with it using your feed.
The Stag of Winter is situated in the northern part of the Plains, positioned on a cliff near the Overgrown Tower. You must traverse the area after releasing the river's flow, climbing up the frozen ruins to interact with the final beast.
Completing the Challenge and Claiming Rewards
After finding and feeding all four seasonal stags, return to Sindri's House to speak with Ratatoskr once more. Reporting your success concludes the questline and officially updates your realm completion log for Vanaheim.
For your efforts, Ratatoskr rewards you with substantial XP for both Kratos and Freya, alongside rare crafting components like Asgardian Ingots. Furthermore, completing this favor unlocks the Stag Stalker trophy, making it an essential objective for completionists.
